Overview

The Project/Engineering Manager for Innovation Platform shall provide professional support and business aid to the customer. Personnel will act as a liaison between the customer, technical teams and management. The Project/Engineering Manager will monitor project health, milestones, budget, risks and team performance.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Personnel will be expected to coordinate projects and provide technical and help desk support to the AFWERX and Kessel Run teams. Team members are expected to integrate into Kessel Run daily standups, business operations, security operations teams. Daily tasks will include help desk support, user access, onboarding, policy coordination and capability development. They are to provide coordination support for the following tools:

Suggested Tools Experience:

  • Help Desk support
  • Cloud Experience (Google Cloud, AWS, Azure)
  • Microsoft Stack
  • Gitlab
  • Multifactor Authentication (Okta)
  • New AFWERX/KR tools as they are deployed.

Team members who have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, strong communication skills, can be flexible in a work environment, and able to prioritize a variety of inputs in a chaotic environment will thrive in these positions.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience

  • BS in Computer Science or similar; advanced degrees
  • 8+ years professional software development experience with HTML, Javascript, Python or other professional programming language (s)
  • 4+ years leading an engineering team and managing software engineers
  • Proficiency with modern front-end technologies & API designs
  • Strong understanding of development best practices, continuous integration, source control, code reviews
  • Relational database proficiency (e.g. MySQL, Aurora, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Cloud Experience
  • Manage an engineering team that follows agile principles to develop features for eachAFWERX IT tools and across each tool.
  • Coach, mentor, inspire and support a team of 5-7 engineers
  • Partner with Product team to consistently and frequently deliver solutions that are well-engineered, maintainable, tested within the agreed upon timeframe
  • Lead by example through hands-on coding, code reviews and sprint planning of theInnovation platform pipeline
  • Collaborate with the AFWERX capability leads to understand business requirements and influence technical strategy conversations across the engineering team

Required
