A service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) is a small business that is 51% unconditionally owned and controlled by a service-disabled veteran.

SBA (8a) is a certification sponsored by the Small Business Association (SBA). This certification recognizes organizations that are owned at least 51% by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.

The WBENC is an SBA-approved third party WOSB program certifier. A WBENC Certification confirms that a business is 51 percent owned and operated by a woman or multiple women.

The EDWOSB is a certification for woman-owned business owners who qualify as economically-disadvantaged. Unlike the 8(a) program, there is no limit on participation in the WOSB program as long the business is eligible.

The DBE program (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) is intended for small businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. Businesses must receive DBE certification from the relevant state, through the state Uniform Certification Program (UCP).

The WOSB program was created to provide opportunity for woman-owned businesses competing for federal contracts. The Small Business Administration (SBA) sets goals for spending in these categories.

The Statewide Procurement Division, Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program administers the HUB program in accordance with Texas Government Code §2161 and Texas Administrative Code.
